11. When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride.

12. Forbid it Lord, that I should boast save in the death of Christ my God; all the vain things that charm me most; I sacrifice them to his blood.

13. See from his head, his hands, his feet, sorrow and love flow mingled down; did e’re such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown.

14. Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were an offering far too small: love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

15. The cross is carried into the midst of the church. Three stations are made and three times we say: We adore you, O Christ and we bless you. Because, by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world. The Cross

16. Priest: Let your bearing to one another arise out of your life in Christ Jesus. He humbled himself and in obedience accepted the death of the cross. God bestowed on him the name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess Jesus Christ is Lord. Prayer before the Cross

18. The Veneration of the Cross We come to the cross one by one or with others.…. Kneel, touch, kiss, pray before the cross…………..

19. O sacred head sore wounded, with grief and shame weighed down; O kingly head surrounded with thorns your only crown; death’s shadows rise before you, the glow of life decays: yet hosts of heaven adore you and tremble as they gaze.

20. What language shall I borrow to praise you, heavenly friend, for this your dying sorrow, your mercy without end? Such agony and dying! Such love to sinners free! O Christ, all grace supplying, turn now your face on me.

21. In this your bitter Passion, good shepherd, think of me, look on me with compassion, unworthy though I be: beneath your cross abiding for ever would I rest, in your dear love confiding, and with your presence blessed.

22. Lord, be my consolation, my shield when death is near; remind me of your Passion, be with me when I fear. My eyes shall then behold you, upon your cross shall dwell, my heart by faith enfold you; and who dies thus, dies well.

30. Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

32. Let us proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died Christ is risen Christ will come again

34. Blessing and honour and glory and power are yours for ever and ever. Amen

36. Our Father in heaven hallowed be Your name Your kingdom come Your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are Yours now and forever. Amen

38. Breaking of the Bread We break this bread to share in the Body of Christ. We who are many are one body, for we all share in the one bread.

39. Jesus, Lamb of God have mercy on us. Jesus, bearer of our sins, have mercy on us. Jesus, Redeemer of the world, grant us Your peace.

40. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world: happy are those who are called to his supper Lord, I am not worthy to receive You but only say the word and I shall be healed.

41. Holy Communion Time for silence, quiet prayer & reflection

42. We sing the praise of him who died, Of him who died upon the cross; The sinners’ hope though all deride: For this we count the world but loss.

43. Inscribed upon the cross we see In shining letters, ‘God is love’; He bears our sins upon the tree; He brings us mercy from above.

44. The cross – it takes our guilt away, It holds the fainting spirit up, It cheers with hope the gloomy day And sweetens every bitter cup:

45. It makes the coward spirit brave And nerve the feeble arm for fight; It takes all terror from the grave And gilds the bed of death with light;

47. Prayer over the People Most merciful God, who by the death and resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ delivered and saved humankind: grant that by faith in him who suffered on the cross, we may triumph in the power of his victory: through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
