“…the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:15 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” Acts 20:32

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” Acts 17:11

DOES IT MATTER WHAT THE LORD SAYS?
5
True discipleship is dependent upon abiding in the Lord’s word.
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.’” John 8:31
6
Declaring that Jesus is lord is not enough to enter the kingdom.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessnes!’” Matthew 7:21-23
7
Doctrine is essential to having fellowship with god in his family.
“Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 9 “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:50
8
Obedience to the Lord’s word is proof of love for the lord.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.” John 14:15, 23-24
9
Disobedience of the gospel of christ has eternal consequences.
“…Rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power” 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9
10
The eternal reward is assured to believers who do the will of God’s son.
“And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:17 “Having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” Hebrews 5:9
