3 OS Installation Install Linux OS (Red Hat 9) on your machine. Install it as Dual boot (Windows and Linux) [Take care not to destroy your Windows data] Linux docs (Installation Guide, System Administrator’s guide, etc) are available on Win2K Choose Workstation as your type of installation After Installation, Get Familiar with Linux GUI

4 Programming Environment Text Programming Environment –Editor : vi –Debugger: gdb GUI Programming Environment –Editors (vi with some GUI support, plus other Notepad like editors) –Graphical Debuggers (DDD, KDbg) [See Debugging on Linux page on Intranet site]
