Canada is just so big! Canada is the biggest country in the world, after Russia. France is 18 times smaller than Canada. The french population is twice the canadian population.

The weather is often snowy. Clothes are very warm.

Native People The first nations were named Indians by the European people when they « discovered » Canada. Various Native people live in Canada today.

Big cities Toronto is the largest city in Canada. You can see the CN Tower, one of the world’s tallest towers. (553 metres) Ottawa is the capital of Canada. In front of parliament building, you can meet policemen on horseback. They are members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The Canadian call them « Mounties ».

A bilingual country Montreal is the second biggest French- speaking city, after Paris. In the province of Quebec, most of the people living here speak French. English and French are both national languages, even if English-speaking people are a large majority.
