AUTHORS PURPOSE Ask yourself: Why did the author write this story ? Is the author trying to persuade me to share his/her opinion about something ? Is it an information (expository) text that gives me facts, dates and figures. Is it just an entertaining story (fiction)? Is it explaining how to do something?
