Definition and Calculation  Definition – Unexcused absences are defined by the local school system where the child is attending.  Calculation - Number of unexcused absences/number of school calendar days *Note: Number of unexcused absences is approximately 3% of 180 school calendar days (Standard Georgia school calendar year). * Note: For children in contractor’s care for only a portion of a school year, the calculation is pro-rated. * Note: Unexcused absences are defined by the local school system where the child is attending. 12
