Newspaper Did you know that…? -For each week's Sunday newspapers, 500,000 trees must be cut down. -Recycling a single run of the Sunday New York Times would save 75,000 trees.

Did you know that…? -About 1 billion trees worth of paper are thrown away every year in the U.S -If every American recycled just one-tenth of their newspapers, we would save about 25,000,000 trees a year. Newspaper

You can shred the newspaper and add it to compost pile only if you know the ink is natural and non-toxic. You can use newspaper in the garden as mulch. Only recycled newspaper where there is a paper recycling symbol. Newspaper

Wrapping Papers, Plastic Bags, and Gum Wrappers Did you know…? -wrapping paper and shopping bags alone account for about 4 million tons of trash annually in the U.S -Only 1 to 2% of plastic bags in the USA end up getting recycled. -Plastic bags are about 9 percent of the debris found along various U.S. coasts.

Wrapping Papers, Plastic Bags, and Gum Wrappers Wrapping paper can be hard to recycle since it is often dyed, thin and contain few good quality fibers for recycling, and have tape around it.

Cardboard Did you know? Most of the waste in cities all over the world trashes cardboard. If you recycle one ton of cardboard, you can save over 9 cubic yards of landfill space.

Cardboard Two types of cardboard could be recycled: Flat cardboard (cereal boxes etc.), and corrugated cardboard Contact your local recycling center and flatten out ask your boxes. Green Zone Recycling Center: 530-661-6800 Go down there and turn in your cardboard!!

Aluminum Foil Did you know? Aluminum foil is not recyclable because it is much dirtier than aluminum cans. That is also the reason why very few recycling centers accept them.

Aluminum Foil Recycling centers do accept cleaned aluminum foil. What you can do is turn that aluminum foil you just used into an awesome statue of Godzilla or something else.
