2  Founded in 1940  The American Diabetes Association is the leading fight against diabetes and fighting for people who already have diabetes  The association funds research, delivers services to hundreds of communities and fights for those who are denied rights because of their condition

3  The ADA offers membership to both Consumers and health professionals  Consumer membership is designed for people with the disease as well as family members and caregivers  Professional membership provides doctors, nurses, educators and researchers with the latest news and breakthroughs in diabetic research
