5 5 WHAT IS SONCAP ? Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Conformity Assessment Programme. (CAP) Products are to meet NIS or International standards

6 6 PRODUCT CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT WHAT IS IMPORTANT? 2 documents: Product Certificate (PC) & Certificate of Conformity (“a SONCAP” ) A Product Certificate is needed to obtain the import licence called form M Each shipment has to be accompanied by a SONCAP at arrival in Nigeria

7 7 PRODUCT CONFORMITY ASSESSMENT PROCESS Certificate of Conformity (SONCAP) Application for a CoC Documentary Verification Review against the regulatory requirements Application for PC Importer uses PC to obtain form M Exporter Process in the exporting Country
