2 (2Chr 7:14) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

3 Hezekiah's Prayer for Deliverance
(2 Kings 19:14-19)

4 2 Kings 19:14-19 14) Hezekiah took the letter from the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to the LORD’s temple and spread it out before the LORD. 15) Hezekiah prayed before the LORD: “LORD God of Israel, who is enthroned on the cherubs! You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the sky and the earth.16) Pay attention, LORD, and hear! Open your eyes, LORD, and observe! Listen to the message Sennacherib sent and how he taunts the living God!

5 17) It is true, LORD, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands. 18) They have burned the gods of the nations, for they are not really gods, but only the product of human hands manufactured from wood and stone. That is why the Assyrians could destroy them. 19) Now, O LORD our God, rescue us from his power, so that all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you, LORD, are the only God.”

6 Hezekiah’s Prayer Synopsis …
Great God, Please Rescue us, (Save us… means to be free and be safe) For your glory and our good! (That the nations may know that You alone are the One true God!)

7 WAIT FOR THE WORD OF THE LORD!
God’s Answer … WAIT FOR THE WORD OF THE LORD!

8 (Verse 32) So this is what the LORD says about the king of Assyria: “He will not enter this city, nor will he shoot an arrow here He will not attack it with his shield- carrying warriors, nor will he build siege works against it.

9 TRUTH STATEMENT ONE: “Wait on Me … I AM your shield and strength!”
(Ps 18:30) The one true God acts in a faithful manner; the LORD’s promise is reliable; he is a shield to all who take shelter in him.

10 What does Godly waiting LOOK LIKE?
Abiding… Resting Walking in the Light You have… Obedience Trusting His Word to You … Faith Listening … Seeking

11 (Ps 123:2) Look (Wait), as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a female servant look to the hand of her mistress, so my eyes will look to the LORD, our God, until he shows us favor.

12 TRUST IN GOD’S PLAN AND PURPOSE!
(Verse 33) He will go back the way he came He will not enter this city,” says the LORD.

13 TRUTH STATEMENT TWO: “He is our MIGHTY FORTRESS!”
(Ps 18:2) The LORD [is] my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, [and] my high tower.

14 The Lord is … (Psalm 18:2) My Rock … The Solid Foundation I can trust!
My Fortress … The Barrier that keeps out the enemy! My Deliverer … The One who rescues me from harm!

15 My Shield … My Defender! The Horn of My Salvation … The One that trumpets His coming to save! My High Tower … The One that gives me an eternal gaze at my enemy!

16 “Place your TRUST in the Lord for His glory and it will work for your good!”

17 CALL OUT TO GOD … HE IS OUR REDEEMER!
(Verse 34) I will shield this city and rescue it for the sake of my reputation and because of my promise to David my servant.’”

18 TRUTH STATEMENT THREE: “Our God is the Righteous Redeemer!”
(Isa 54:5) For the Maker [is] your husband; the LORD of hosts [is] His name; and your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall He be called.

19 “Calling out to God brings Him glory as He brings us salvation!”

20 GOD WILL FIGHT THE BATTLE FOR YOU!
(Verse 35 )That very night the LORD’s messenger went out and killed 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp. When they got up early the next morning, there were all the corpses. 36) So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh.

21 TRUTH STATEMENT FOUR: “God takes care of His own!”

22 “Because He is great God, He will win the battle!”
