3. The Word of life was the revelation of God (1 John 5:20). God is not discernible to human sight (1 John 4:12; John 1:18). A living portrait of the true God… An illumination of God the Father (Hebrews 1:3). Man’s access to fellowship and communion with God (John 14:6, 7).

4. The Word of life is the Christ (1 John 5:1). Prophets foretold of the coming of the Messiah. Jesus is that Anointed One of God (Acts 236). Whoever denies Jesus is the Christ is antichrist (1 John 2:22).

5. The Word of life is the Savior of the world (1 John 4:14). The human race needs saving. Romans 6:23; 1 John 1:5; 2:17; Colossians 3:6; 2 Peter 3:1 Salvation is in no other person but Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12; John 3:17; 4:42).

6. The Word of life is the propitiation for sins for the whole world (1 John 2:2). God’s great love provided the propitiatory sacrifice to atone for the sins of mankind (1 John 4:10; Romans 3:25). The benefits of this propitiation are for the whole world, but believers must be in Christ and abide in His doctrine to benefit from this gift of mercy.

7. The Word of life is the Destroyer of the devil’s works (1 John 3:8). Salvation is not possible without Jesus destroying the works of Satan. Weaken and remove power from the devil. Hebrews 2:14, 15

8. The Word of life is Christians’ Advocate with the Father (1 John 2:1). God commands saints not to sin, but He knows that sin is deceitful. Righteous Jesus is a true counsel of defense for us when we call upon Him to our side. 1 John 1:7, 9

9. The Word of life is the Bringer of eternal life (1 John 5:11-12). Jesus is Eternal Life Himself. Jesus came that you and I may have eternal life. Conditioned upon “having the Son of God”
