What do I want to be when I grow up? I actually don’t know what I want to be when I grow up. Though, one job I have thought about is a writer. I like reading books, and enjoy the creative writing. Poetry is also a small passion I harbor. And when I say I want to be a writer, that can mean a script writer too. I love movies, and being able to write for a movie or play would be just as good as writing a book. Out of any jobs I have thought about, so far, being a writer is the best one I can think of. In order to be a writer, you must have several important traits. Being a writer is a tough job, and requires certain criteria. Some traits that are needed as a writer are: creativity, collaboration, patience, passion, and determination.
3
Creativity - the use of the imagination or original ideas, esp. in the production of an artistic work. To be a successful writer, an essential character strength you will need is creativity. To produce original, interesting work as a writer, you must be creative. If you want to write things that will actually make you money, you have to write things that appeal to your readers. And most people won’t like boring work that you just copied from someone. Imagine Dream Create
4
Collaboration - the action of working with someone to produce or create something Another trait that makes a successful writer, is collaboration. As writer, you will usually have an editor, and you may collaborate with other writers as well. If you want to keep improving as a writer, you will need help from other, and being able to collaborate with them will be needed. When you collaborate with an editor, they are making you writing better and helping correct mistakes. To make the best possible writing that will make money, you will need help.
5
Diligence - careful and persistent work or effort. In the world today, being a writer is a tough job. As not that many people read for fun anymore, you have to be the best of the best to catch peoples’ attention. So, if you write a book, it is not going to be a bestseller right away. You have to keep trying and putting in all your effort into your writing. If you don’t do this, then your writing would probably get worse because you aren’t trying as hard. You must be patient and keep working hard.
6
Passion - strong and barely controllable emotion People say, “If you aren’t crying when you write it, the readers aren’t crying when they read it”. When you write, you should be writing with passion the reader can feel and see. If you can’t feel what you are writing, then your readers may not connect with your writing as much. Also, when you write with passion, you writing becomes stronger; it will ignite a flam in the reader. That is the kind a writing that will sell and make money.
7
Determination - firmness of purpose; resoluteness As I mentioned before, you aren’t going to write a bestseller right off the bat. If you really want to be a writer, you will have to be very determined, as it is not an easy job. To have an unwavering will that points to writing, is exactly what you need. Not matter what obstacles there are, you have to keep following your dream. You don’t want to give up before you even start. Though, even if you don become a writer, you will still need determination to get through any tough times during your career.
