Animism is the belief that many things in nature have their own spirit. It is one of the earliest forms of religion OVERVIEW OF ANIMISM

Animism is considered a tribal religion, and each group of families, known as a CLAN, identified with a particular animal. The family would never harm or eat that particular animal OVERVIEW OF ANIMISM

In Sub-Saharan Africa, many tribes believed that animals, plants, and places had their own spirits. EXAMPLES

In many Native American cultures, their Medicine Men would make contact with the spirit world to help facilitate healing. EXAMPLES

In ancient Japan, people believed that spirits, also called KAMI, existed in nature. This nature belief led to another religion called SHINTOISM. EXAMPLES

Sikhs do NOT believe in the Hindu caste system, because they believe that everyone is equal in the eyes of God.
