Positive Effects of Violent Action Video Games

Studies Have Proven: Violent video games can strengthen a person’s ability to process sensory data and turn it into fast decision making. The University of Rochester in New York tested this theory in students from 19-20 years old. Students who played at least 5 hours of violent action video games per week were able to process vision and auditory information much faster then those who did not play

Why Only Violent Video Games? No it is not the blood and gore factor that makes the difference. It’s the ability to handle avoiding enemies rushing at you from all angles Studies have also shown that video games with out violence does not improve decision making.

More Shocking Studies: Surgeons who spent at least three hours each week playing action video games made approximately 37 percent fewer mistakes in laparoscopic surgery and performed the surgery 27 percent faster than their colleagues who did not play video games These studies took place at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City

The Most Common Effect: Eye- hand coordination is improved by playing video games. This allows improvement in everyday activities that use eye-hand coordination like operating heavy machinery for example driving a car Studies also show that playing action video games can enhance your contrast sensitivity, which is the ability to detect slight differences in shades of gray

By: Emily Benitez So before saying no to a violent video game remember it does have positive effects
