4 WHY IS IT GROWING SO FAST?  Highly Sexualized Culture  A Cultural Failure to Value All People  Internet  Social Networking  High Demand  Highly Profitable  Cell Phones

5 HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?  Most sex trafficking victims are not forced into the sex industry.  Most of them are not kept in chains or behind locked doors.  Most of them are lured.  Trust  Dependence  Love?  Deception  Violence  Fear  Shame

REALITY Meeting a NeedDanger!  Acceptance  Love?  Desperation  Money  Power  Glamour?  Physical Abuse- by Traffickers and Johns  Emotional Abuse  Sexually Transmitted Infections  Illness  Malnutrition  Miscarriages or Forced Abortions  Parasites  Lower Life Expectancy  Constant Fear  Permanent Scars  Physical and Mental

10 PREVENTION  Preventing human trafficking is by far the most effective method of ending human trafficking. It isn’t as “glamorous” as rescue, and it can’t be quantified, but it is vital!  Intervention with high risk individuals before exploitation:  Homeless  Minorities  Single mothers lacking sufficient support  Runaways or “Throwaways”  Those living in Poverty  Those with Drug or Alcohol Addictions  Kids with a single parent or no parent (No dad involved)  Those with a history of sexual and/or physical abuse  The Disabled  Those who aren’t careful, or who are looking for a high risk adventure.

11 RECOVERY  Public Awareness  A Network of Assistance  Not all Victims Want to be Recovered  Building Trust  Partnering with Law Enforcement  Rescue is Law Enforcement’s Role!

12 RESTORATION  Emergency Shelter and Assistance  Children and Adults  Long Term Care  Many Trafficking Victims are Re-Exploited  Survival isn’t Enough  Thrive!
