The TiM551 is the new outdoor-rated ranging laser scanner from SICK.
It sends information about surrounding contours out over Ethernet using time-of-flight, the same technology as an LMS scanner
Up to a 10 meter range (8 meters on black)
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use with its IP 67 rating and wide operating temperature range of °C to +50 °C
Small footprint at just 86 mm tall and 3 watt power consumption

The sensor is based on Time Of Flight (TOF) technology – distance is calculated based on the time measured between sending and receiving an infrared pulse
To ensure a small, power-efficient, and reliable laser scanner, SICK’s own High Definition Distance Measurement (HDDM) technology is used
With HDDM, 84 pulses are sent out per degree and an algorithm chooses the strongest echo. Due to this, a lower power pulse can be used which reduces size and power requirements.
