1 Review and Test-Taking Strategies
1. A student designs an experiment that determines the effectiveness of a particular enzyme. In the design, four types of food products are used. The experimenter uses 5ml, 10ml, 15ml, and 20ml of enzyme with each of the four food types. In addition, the experimenter places the 5ml and 10ml containers in the freezer. Which of the following statements BEST describes this experimental design? A This experimental design will easily be supported by other scientists. B This experimental design is flawed due to the lack of a control variable and the presence of multiple experimental variables. C This experimental design will produce multiple trials of data. D This experimental design will show that an enzyme can work in any temperature and any volume or concentration.

2 Review and Test-Taking Strategies
2. In the Enzyme-Substrate Complex, what is represented by X? A enzyme B substrate C active site D product

3 Review and Test-Taking Strategies
3. What does Step III illustrate? A enzyme specificity B changes in enzymes after reaction C conversion of substrate into products D release of activation energy

4 Review and Test-Taking Strategies
A C B D 4. Which of these best represents a fatty-acid molecule? 5. Which of these best represents a nucleic acid? 6. Which of these best represents a protein? 7. Which of these best represents a carbohydrate?

5 Review and Test-Taking Strategies
A student reads a label that states, This sports drink will help you keep going through a tough workout, restoring essential vitamins and minerals to your body during exercise. Based on the advertiser's claim, the student is able to conclude that the sports drink contains — A carbohydrates B vitamins B, C, and D C some types of vitamins and minerals D the recommended daily amount of vitamins and minerals

6 Question Refer to the illustration below. What additional characteristic (X) belongs in the central section of the Venn diagram? A. mitochondrion B. chloroplast C. ribosome D. endoplasmic reticulum Prokaryotic Eukaryotic

7 Question Which of the following would you NOT find in a bacterial cell? DNA Cell wall Golgi body Ribosome

8 Cell Organelle and Cell Types Test
Cell Organelle and Cell Types Test Today! Please take out your Highlight Package and review for 5 minutes. Please also ensure to have a pencil for the test. Good Luck!!

9 Question The leaves of plant are dotted with openings known as stomata. When open, stomata allow the plant to exchange gases and allow moisture to evaporate, helping to draw water from the roots up into the plant. These activities help the plant to: produce light energy maintain homeostasis decompose organic matter synthesize minerals

10 Question What will happen to an animal cell placed in a salt water solution? the cell will shrink the cell will expand the cell will burst the cell will shrink and then expand and then shrink again

11 Extra Question In five minutes with at least five lines, answer the following question below. Turn in after the five minutes. Ensure to write for the whole time. Question: Diffusion and osmosis are both vital to cell function. Describe the similarities and differences between the processes of diffusion and osmosis. Similarities: Molecules move from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Neither osmosis or diffusion require energy and are considered passive transport. Differences: Diffusion happens when any kind of molecule moves from any area of higher concentration to any area of lower concentration, but osmosis refers only to the diffusion of water across a semi-permeable membrane, such as a cell membrane.
