Transylvania Sibiu Şura Mică Transylvania is a historical region in the central part of Romania. In Romanian, the region is known as Ardeal or Transilvania. Sibiu is a city in Transylvania, Romania, with a population of 147,245. Located some 215 km north-west of Bucharest. Between 1849-1865 Sibiu was the capital of the Principality of Transylvania. Now, it is one of the most important cultural centers of Romania and was designated the European Capital of Culture for the year 2007. Şura Mică, also known as Kleinscheuern in German, is a village in Sibiu County. It is situated at 11 km west of Sibiu. Being initially a Sachsen village, now its main population consists of Romanian, Sachsen and Roma people, especially in Rusciori – a village structure of Şura Mică.

Mission of the Şura Mică School The rural school is one of the main institutions, useful for the community, having the noble mission to form the young people, concerning their integration into the community, where they want and where they are needed. The school education creates more tolerant, more flexible, adaptable, individualities, which can value their qualities and their knowledge. So we define our school mission, a rural school which opens its gates every year, to invite all those who need education.

So, any activity which takes place in school and out of it contributes to the children’s strong and healthy development. It is a bond between old and new, it is the hope for the children who have not been favored by God with a healthy social environment and a supportive family background.
