3 Science and Technology (S&T) in S4–5 The ability to interpret, analyse and evaluate scientific and technological data or information A positive attitude towards scientific discovery and technological development, and towards their impact on each other and on society; and The ability to solve daily-life problems and make personal decisions based on the scientific and technology way of thinking

5 Secondary Curriculum & Assessment (1) provide worthwhile learning opportunities for those students who: are pursuing pathways into vocational training and work are pursuing pathways into advanced training or university may require a strengthening of foundation knowledge and skills are capable of performing at the highest possible standard are testing their ability and wanting to keep their future pathway options open

6 Secondary Curriculum & Assessment (2) Programmes will be developed according to interest, ability & aspirations of students and the capacity of schools/providers to deliver balanced (breadth and depth) curriculum arrangements.

7 New Senior Secondary Curriculum C + E + M + LS + 2X/3X and/or Career Oriented Curriculum + other learning experiences (MCE, career related, community service, physical and aesthetic) Note: C, E, M & LS are core subjects while X is elective subject

10 “New” Liberal Studies Not an integration of subjects, but an interdisciplinary subject for ALL students to promote multiple-perspective education Incorporating perspectives of IH, S&T and others in the analysis of contemporary issues Develop independent intellectual capacity, international awareness and global outlook Enhance understanding of and commitment to our nation Prepare for uncertainties (values and attitudes)

11 Project included in public assessment (Independent project to be conducted in SS2/SS3) May include a 2-year or 3-year course to cater for different needs (different exit points) Options of reporting still open to discussion (single grade or separate grade for papers & project) School-based support including web-based resource banks for teachers “New” Liberal Studies
