10 Temperature Excursions
In the event that vaccines are exposed to improper storage conditions, TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION: Restore proper storage condition and/or take vaccine to backup storage unit Document exactly what happened: note temp of storage unit, length of time vaccine was out of proper storage conditions Contact the manufacturer, health department, and/or VFC Follow health department or manufacturer’s instructions Record the details of the event Mark the vaccines “Do Not Use” Where applicable mark the exposed vials with updated expiration dates as provided by the manufacturer
