1 Mechanical Engineering
By: Samantha Kraft

2 Field Report “Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. It requires a solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and energy.”

3 Areas of Specialization
Biomedical and Engineering Fluid Mechanics, Combustion and the Environment, Ground Vehicle Systems, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, and Energy Systems, Manufacturing, Mechanical Design, System Dynamics and Control, and Transportation Systems

4 Job Prospects Job prospects are very high
They can find work just about anywhere

5 Where Mechanical Engineers Work
“Mechanical engineers work in many industries, and their work varies by industry and function. Some specialize in energy systems; applied mechanics; automotive design; manufacturing; materials; plant engineering and maintenance; pressure vessels and piping; and heating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning systems. Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers may work in production operations in manufacturing or agriculture, maintenance, or technical sales; many are administrators or managers.”

6 Expected Salary Ranges
Mechanical engineers make a low of 45,170, an average of about 69,850, and a high of about 104,900.

7 College Preparation You need at least a bachelors degree to become a Mechanical engineer

8 Courses needed in High School
Algebra Geometry Algebra 2 Trigonometry Chemistry Biology Physics Calc

9 Conclusion It’s a very difficult pathway to take, but in the end it’s very beneficial. You would receive a good pay, there are many jobs available, and you really help people.
