Reading Test Children will complete a reading task and/or comprehension booklet matched to their ability Questions will test understanding and comprehension of text

Writing Tasks Long and a short writing task Short task- eg a description of a setting Long task- eg a story Spelling test Completely normal for children… informal and already part of our every day learning

Ways you can help… Handwriting practice Punctuation… full stops, question marks, commas, exclamation marks Wow words Spelling challenge… over holidays Easter holiday diary… practise these skills with you!

Maths Test Tests children’s understanding of shape, time, length, weight, addition, subtraction, data handling, place value Weighted heavily in number Children are allowed number lines and 100 squares for some tests Informal and small group atmosphere

Ways you can help Sumdog challenge over the holidays Time- quarter past, half past, o clock and quarter to Time problems when out and about… 30 minutes/ 1 hour / hours later or earlier Counting forwards and backwards in steps of 2, 5 and 10 Times table practice- 2, 5 and 10

When will the tests take place? Two weeks leading up to May half term Important message today… neither your child or you should worry. Low key and informal- will be fun! SATS are used to confirm teacher assessments

Other assessments Children are also teacher assessed in science Some children will have a Phonic test in June- confirm our phonic assessments
