Diversity 1. Present Identities Enabling everyone (including you) to be fully present as themselves …also known as differentiation 2. Absent Identities Ensuring perspectives from those who are not there

Differentiation You can’t do differentiation to someone. They need to be present too. As themselves.

The Outcome If you get differentiation right, you are halfway to embedding diversity in your teaching

Absent Identities It’s not OK to… Talk only about mums on a parenting course because there are no dads present. Hold the session up three flights of stairs because no-one in a wheelchair has ever applied. Not challenge racist language because everyone in the room is white.
