Adulthood…when? Adulthood If you had the choice to be considered an adult at age 12, would you do it? Explain your answer. What would you gain by doing this? What would you lose?

Color Life in Color Describe what life would be like without color. What would you miss the most? Why? Be specific about all the different things you’d miss and be sure to explain why.

Erase Your Memories? Memories If you had the power to erase the memories of all the times you have experienced pain (sadness, unhappiness, fear, grief, loneliness) would you want to do it? What would be the advantages and disadvantages of erasing the memories? How would you change?

Giving That One Gift If you could give any one gift to any one person, what would it be and why? Explain the significance of the gift and why you chose that gift over all the other possibilities. (Feel free to think physically, mentally, emotionally, politically, and even spiritually.)

Pain Oh, the Pain! Describe the worst physical pain you have ever felt. Try to use as many sensory details as possible to fully describe it for the reader.

War What do you think of war? Write about your thoughts, feelings, and ideas about the word “war.” What comes to mind when you hear the word? How does it make you feel? Is it necessary? War…what is it good for?

Conflict The struggle is real. Conflict, in a work of literature, is the struggle between opposing characters or opposing forces. One type of conflict is character vs. character. Explain this type of conflict using a piece of literature that you have read.

Perseverance We shall overcome. Characters in literature, especially the protagonist, often show extreme measures of perseverance. They are forced to overcome great odds and battle many obstacles. Using a piece of literature that you are familiar with, discuss the theme of personal triumph.

Outsider A one-man wolf pack. Often, in literature, a character is viewed as an outsider or a loner. Using a piece of literature that you are familiar with, discuss such a character. Be sure to describe this character’s attitudes towards himself or herself, and how he or she deals with the isolation that comes with these two labels.

Coy Middle Where dreams come true. Write a paragraph describing Coy Middle School. Discuss your love, hate, excitement or misery. You may wish to describe it physically, socially, or in any other fashion.

Game time For the love of the game. Describe, in detail, your favorite game. Be sure to include specific rules and procedures of how to play. Explain why it is your favorite.

Typical All in a days work. Describe a typical day of your life. From the alarm blaring until your head hits the pillow, what are the things you normally do and the places you normally go?

Childhood I don’t want to grow up! Since today is Throwback Thursday, we are going to reminisce about our childhood. Write a paragraph about your favorite childhood toy or type of toys/games to play or write a paragraph about a TV show/cartoon/movie that you were obsessed with as a child.

Vacation Sit back and relax. Write a descriptive and informative paragraph about the best vacation location you’ve ever been to or the ideal place that you would like to go, but do not include the pronouns I, me, my, and myself.
