3. Research Paper  Thesis: To fully understand the surgery processes, one must learn the history of medical hygiene, what types of tools are used, and how to clean surgical equipment. To become a surgical technologist one must undergo training while going to school, so they can learn the proper skills acquired to become a surgical technologist.

4. Research Paper  Fact from paper:  As members of the surgical team, surgical technologists are responsible for preparing the operating room: opening, operating, and maintaining the sterile field, sterile and non-sterile equipment, surgical instruments, and other supplies required for surgical procedures.

5. Research Paper  Another Fact From the Paper:  Most employers recommend and prefer to hire a certified surgical technologist. Candidates for certification must be a graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs accredited surgical technology program or must have been previously certified prior to March 1, 2000.

6. Physical Project  During the 15 product hours I had to complete I worked with my mentor to figure out what surgical technology is, what the job consist of.  I worked with someone from the community to learn some basic first aid, and CPR.  A CNA helped me figure out some techniques she may use when working with her patients, I learned what a CNA’s job duties consist of.

What I’ve Learned Through The Process  During my process of completing this project I have learned a multitude of things, such as:  A surgical technologist is not a sterile processor.  Basic first aid consist of handling and bandaging wounds and burns properly  A CNA works hard no matter what task is thrown in front of them

14. Successes Things I am proud of:  My completed paper  Having all of my hours completed  Finding a great mentor that was willing to work with me  Having overcome the obstacles that have stood in my way to complete this project

Challenges  Some challenges that I faced:  The mentor I had lined up, decided she was unable to be my mentor anymore.  Some my research paper was really difficult to finish  Things I would do differently if I had to do this project over now, I would have chose a different mentor from the start of this project.

Mentor Reflection o Robin Keith, my mentor has taught me so much! o She taught me that surgical technology was not really what I thought it was! o She is such a great instructor, I am really glad I she was able to be my mentor, she taught me so much information that I would have never have thought about!

17. Conclusion  I possibly might start pursuing this career for my future job.  There are some things about this subject I adore and some that I do not really care for.  I actually thought this was a whole different topic, then later in my progress of this project, found out this topic is what it is; and enjoyed learning so much about this topic.
