Hasan Siddiqui An overview on how to use the University of Louisiana at Monroe’s mobile application for the Android™ OS
2
The first step is to first download the application. This can be done by first launching the “Market” application. Tap on the magnifying glass at the top right and type in “ULM mobile” and press search.
3
The one that is developed by “The University of Louisiana at Monroe” is the one you will want to select. It will probably be the first one.
4
Then click “Install” then “Accept” and the application will begin to download.
5
This is the first screen you will see when opening the application. Here you can access six different sections: Prospective students, Athletics, News, Directory, Calendar, Courses, Gallery, Listen, and Students & Employees.
6
First we will take a look at the “Prospective Students”section.
7
The “Prospective Student” section includes information such as majors offered, scholarship information, and contact information.
8
Each of these links also leads to a different resource for students who are interested in coming to ULM. For example, one can check out the scholarship information.
9
By entering some personal scores, prospective students can see what tier of academic scholarship they will be offered from ULM.
10
Next we will look at the “Athletics” section.
11
The “Athletics” section includes various stories concerning sports and athletics at ULM.
12
Tapping on a story will give a short overview of the article. After clicking “view full story”, you will be navigated to the full article.
13
Next we will look at the “News” section.
14
The “News” section is presented in a very similar format to the “Athletics” section. Except, it contains articles that do not have to do with sports.
15
It also expands to show a short summary of the article once it is tapped. Clicking on “view full story” will bring you to the full article.
16
We will now look at the “Directory” section.
17
The “Directory” section includes a listing of most all of faculty, staff, and students at ULM.
18
Typing a name in the search bar and tapping the search button will allow you to search for any student or faculty member.
19
This will bring up a list of all student or faculty members who have that name. This includes email addresses as well as office numbers if applicable.
20
We will now look at the “Calendar” section.
21
The “Calendar” section includes important dates concerning ULM. It first opens to a screen that shows an overview of the month with arrows that will move you back and forth by month.
22
Tapping on any day will bring you to a more detailed description of the days agenda.
23
We will now look at the “Courses” section.
24
The “Courses” section includes a course catalog of the courses offered at ULM. They are sorted by subjects. Tapping on any of these will bring you to a screen that includes the classes offered.
25
This screen shows all the courses that are taught at ULM. To see more information on them, one can tap on the desired class.
26
It will give you more information about the class. This information includes a brief description of the class, the availability of the class, and sometimes even a sample syllabus.
27
We will now look at the “Gallery” section.
28
The “Gallery” section contains photos around campus and at some school events. They are shown as small thumbnails, but clicking on them will enlarge the pictures.
29
We will now look at the “Listen” section.
30
The “Listen” section will lead you to a page where you can listen to a live stream of the campus radio station, 91X. It also includes links that lead to the station’s home page. You can stream the station by simply pressing the play button.
31
The last section we will look at is the “Students & Employees” section. This is possibly the most useful feature of this application.
32
Tapping on the “Students & Employees” section prompts you to enter your login information. They use the same login and password as myULM.
33
After entering your information, you will have access to 5 more sections: Inbox, Schedule, FlightPath, Moodle, and Anouncments. FlightPath, Moodle, and Inbox,
34
FlightPath, Moodle, and Inbox lead to the web versions of their sections, so they are identical to what you would see on a desktop or laptop. At the time of this writing, the “Schedule” section is not fully functional.
35
The “Announcement” section leads to a page that shows announcements for students or faculty (depending on who you login as). Tapping “view full story” will direct you to the full article.
