2  Basic/ Generic  RN Transfer BSN  Collaborative track ADN-BSN

3  “Undeclared with an Interest in Nursing”  University doing away with Pre-Major Status in all majors  Move to have all students declare major at 45 units  Students with an interest in nursing may have to choose another major at 45 units  Students can apply to Nursing even though they have declared another major

4  Fall 2012: Admission to “Undeclared with an Interest in Nursing” requires: 3.0 High School GPA SAT 900 (without writing section) Application to School of Nursing Required after Freshman year

5  Undeclared Majors must have:  2.75 GPA in 20 units of Required Nursing Prerequisites  Overall GPA 2.75

6  Two – step process: Separate applications filed with University and School of Nursing  Must meet all university deadlines as well as School of Nursing Deadlines  Multiple sets of transcripts are required  At application one for the School of Nursing and one for the University (Best to include SON’s with application)  When finished prerequisites one for the School of Nursing  When Academic year is completed one for the university

7 Take basic science courses- Need 2.75 GPA or Higher  Human Anatomy and Physiology  Chemistry  Microbiology  Statistics  Oral Communication  Composition  Critical thinking

8 Separate application filed in Fall for School of Nursing for Basic Student Points are given for each of these categories  Transcript  Grades in basic sciences  Overall grade point  TEAS – Test of Essential Academic Skills  English, Reading, Science and Math  *Work Experience- patient-related, may be volunteer (strongly recommended)

9 September 1: First day to submit applications for BSN program December 1: Final day to submit applications for BSN program December 30: Final day to take TEAS exam Conclusion of CSULA Winter Quarter, March 23, 2013: Final day for completion of six mandatory pre-requisite classes Late April/Mid May: Applicants contacted with decision letters

10  Human Nutrition  Psychology of Developing Person  Principles of Sociology

11 Physical Exam Immunizations Two – step TB skin test Background check Health Insurance Valid California driver’s Liability insurance CPR card

12  General Education (Includes ENGL 102 and theme)  Required Nursing Courses  Related Fields  Total 195 units Basic Student  Total 180 units RN Transfer
