3 Purpose statement… To lead a new trend of South African critical nurses who have found their voice of influence and contribute to improving ICU practice, management, education and policy at local, national and regional level CCSSA Nursing Forum 08-08-08

4 THE CONCEPT Sub-committee of the CCSSA – to represent interests of CCNs/nurses in SA ICUs Purpose – greater representation of CCNs in 6 regions of CCSSA Constitution (2007) Additional members to include the 2 elected & the 2 co-opted Nurse members of CCSSA Council, viz. the WFCCN & CTG reps. Legitimate structure Objective – address CCN matters Leadership Regional / Provincial / Branch representation

5 THE PROCESS Concept of a nursing sub-structure of the CCSSA proposed in 2006 Accepted & initiated at June 2007 CCSSA Council meeting Inaugural meeting of group held Aug. 2007 at CCSSA Congress Presentation to Congress Aug. 2007 Follow-up meeting held Dec. 2007 at CCSSA Refresher Course in. P. E. Proposal & nomination form submitted for postage to members in Dec. 2007 Strategic Planning Workshop organised for Feb. 2008, Cape Town Planning meetings April & June 2008, JHB.

15 WFCCN Journal and Website CONNECT Official Journal of WFCCN contract has been renewed to 2010 –Plans are in place to renew the webpage for Connect, expand readership and articles to commence Spanish Translation of articles by end of 2008 Website redevelopment plan February 2008 –Website is currently being rebuilt to meet current and future trends –New Presentation should be available by September 2008
