Basic Geometry Review-Shapes and Angles

Review Topics Squares Triangles Rectangles Polygons Obtuse Angle Acute Angle Right Angle Finished?
3
Squares Each one of the sides of a square are equal to each other. The angles of the square are 90 degrees each. The total angle sum of a square is 360 degrees.
4
Triangles In a triangle, the sides do not have to be the same length. There are four types of triangles: right triangle, isosceles triangle, equilateral triangle, and scalene triangle. The angle sum of the triangle has to add up to 180 degrees.
5
Rectangles Rectangles have opposite sides that are equal, so side A=C and B=D. Each one of the angles of a rectangle is 90 degrees. The angle sum of a rectangle is 360 degrees. AC D B
6
Polygons Every Day Shapes: Octagon Pentagon
7
Polygons Polygons are named according to the number of sides that they have. For example: Pentagon, pent=5 sides 1 2 3 4 5
8
Acute Angle An angle that is smaller than 90 degrees.
9
What types of shapes have acute angles? Most common: Triangle In this triangle, all three angles are less than 90 degrees.
10
Obtuse Angle An angle that is larger than 90 degrees. http://www.misterteacher.com/alphabetgeo metry/obtuseangles.html
11
What type of shapes have obtuse angles? Most common: Triangle This angle is obtuse because it is larger than 90 degrees.
12
Right Angle http://commons.wikimedia.org/ wiki/File:Right_angle.svg An angle that measures 90 degrees.
13
What types of shapes have right angles? www.star-ed.com Square Right Triangle Rectangle
