Final Comments  Overall enjoyment of and satisfaction with the program remained steady from last year to this year.  2015 Enjoyment (99.1%) vs. 2014 Enjoyment (99.0%)  2015 Satisfaction (  =4.23) vs. 2014 Satisfaction (  =4.48)  Impact of SI in increasing interest in HCCs remained steady as well.  2015 HCC Interest (  =4.09) vs. 2014 HCC Interest (  =4.01)  Participation in last year’s MU SI increased interest in science and math more than this year.  2015 Science Interest (89.2%) vs. 2014 Science Interest (100%)  (t-test between %s showed a t-stat=3.317 and two tailed prob.=.0011)  2015 Math Interest (56.8%) vs. 2014 Math Interest (67.0%)

STUDENT REFLECTION I got an inside look on what attending MU would be like and I think that you just might see me. School was never an option growing up, being in foster homes didn't give me any hope that one day I would turn out to be this young lady I am now. I thought that I wouldn't make past the age of ten, but I did it was a challenge but I did it, I didn't turn out like a druggie I turned out to be a smart, kind, young lady. MU made me see that in me and I hope other people can climb out of their hole that people have put them in or that they dug for themselves and change their lives or the ones around them. It might be difficult at first but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel and if they run fast of enough then they can make it. I'm going to spread the word about MU to my friends and tell them how nice it really is, and how there is so much nature ready to soothe you when your upset or even when your happy. I really liked my stay at Marshall University.

Teacher Results Program Highlights Significant differences found between this year and last year’s camp in following area ◦Teaching Skills and Methods Acquired

To what extent do you plan on using Fun with Statistics upon returning to your school and community?

Final Comments Even though some results did not show significant differences, overall, this year’s ratings for the camp were higher than last year’s. Contribution to Science and Math Content Knowledge  2015 Science Knowledge (  =4.43) vs. 2014 Science Knowledge (  =4.20)  2015 Math Knowledge (  =4.43) vs. 2014 Math Knowledge (  =3.90) SI Improving Teaching Practices  2015 Improve Teaching (  =4.14) vs. 2014 Improve Teaching (  =3.70) Satisfaction with Overall SI  2015 Satisfaction (  =4.57) vs. 2014 Math Knowledge (  =4.50)

Teacher Reflections  The student desire to be successful is much higher with hsta students.  I learned many labs I will be able to take back to the classroom. I gained more knowledge on how to make my HSTA group better from other teachers with experience.  I have a better relationship with my co-workers and feel as if this support network will last into the year.
