10.5 Problem Solving Skills: Circle Graphs Date ___________________
2
Circle Graph: Compares data that are parts of a whole Uses percents to divide the circle into sectors
3
Make a circle graph of the following data: Housing typeNumber Single-family home9070 Two-family home3023 Three-to-six family home756 Seven or more units buildings2267
4
Steps: 1) Add all of the data to find the total 2) Find what percent each number is of the total by dividing part by whole and multiplying by 100 3) Find the central angles that correspond to each percent by multiplying percent by 360 4) Estimate the angles in the circle graph for each type of data

Total: Housing typeNumberPercent Single-family home9070 Two-family home3023 Three-to-six family home 756 Seven or more units buildings 2267 9070 + 3023 + 756 + 2267= 15,116 Steps 1 and 2: 9070/15,116 = 0.60 60% 3023/15,116 = 0.199 20% 756/15,116 = 0.0500 5% 2267/15,116 = 0.1499 15%
