OBJECTIVE: To provide the audience with a brief, but concise overview of what boilers are and there components.

DEFINITION A boiler is a closed vessel that heats either water or another type of liquid under pressure. The heated liquid is then used as a source of heat carried through pipes to different parts of the factory, home, etc.

Principals of Boiler Heating Electric Combustion of fuels Coal Oil Wood Natural Gas Straw Waste, garbage

Types of Boilers FIRE TUBE- where the water surrounds the source of heat IN WATER TUBE- water in tubes flows through the source of heat

Components of a Boiler System Fix Box- combustion of fuel occurs -air inlet and flue (outlet) Boiler- where the cold fluid comes in and leaves as steam or hot fluid. Heat Transfer Coil ( only in water tube) Safety Value- releases pressure if it builds up past the safe point.
