3 Earth Science is: The study of the earth, its changing systems, and its setting in the universe

4 Zones or Spheres: Lithosphere: the solid part, crust, geosphere Hydrosphere: the liquid part, all the water on earth Atmosphere: The gaseous part, blanket of gases that surrounds the earth CRYOSPHERE: the frozen part, ice caps, glaciers Outer Space: everything outside planet earth (all non-living zones)

5 Main Branches Geology: the study of earth’s solid part, crust, mantle and below, and its formation, movement etc… Meteorology: the study of earth’s atmosphere (weather) Astronomy: the study of outer space

6 Additional Branches: look up definition Climatology Hydrology Astrophysics Vulcanology Seismology Cosmology etc.
