Do Now! Highlight what NARRATIVE PACING is on page Write the definition in your notebook. Commercials that are fast paced/slow paced Discuss the difference! In your notebook… Write about an event in your life where you might describe using fast or slow pacing. Write about the incident. SHARE As you read, “Pick One,” mark the text noting pacing – note where the pacing changes rhythm.

Compound and Complex sentences – Watch the video and take notes in your notebook!
After Reading on page 105: Find example sentences and fill in the graph on page 105. Narrative Writing Prompt: Write a story about a time when you made an important decision about yourself. Vary the pace in your narrative by working in simple, compound, and compound-complex sentences. Be sure to provide a smooth progression of experiences or events, use transitions to move through the story. Vary the pacing through the use of details and sentence types/lengths.
