Why does he need to fight lust? What happens if he doesn’t? Cost to your Christian life Hinders fellowship with God Stifles prayer life Can leads to more sin/worse sin Decreases self-control in other areas It enslaves you Causes depression, anxiety, irritability Cost to the church Church needs leaders and a new generation to rise up Hinders your fellowship and openness with other believer Cost to your family and wife Spiritual distance (even if not caught) Emotional distance (even if not caught) Pain caused to spouse Lost trust and respect Distorts your view of ‘normal’ sex Cost to your neighbour Causes eyes to wander in real life Person in the pornographic image is your neighbour. Love them? Every woman is made in the image of God and is someone for whom Christ died Not praying for non-Christians? Less focussed on your mission on earth. Cost to your Saviour Every sin that you commit is laid on Christ

How to fight lust – start with the Gospel Awareness of our sin and how offensive it is to God Awareness of our inability to turn from sin ourselves Awareness that God has forgiven our sin and does not count it against us Awareness that God is transforming us to be like his Son Jesus Christ, and he is the one who does this work, although he uses our efforts
