Self-esteem reflects a person's overall evaluation or appraisal of her or his own worth. Self-esteem encompasses beliefs, emotions and behaviours. How you regard your relationship skills, personality, job and school performance, body image or sexuality all impact your self-esteem. This influences how you view opportunities and limitations.

You can grow in self-esteem by developing confidence and strengths from within. Self-esteem doesn’t change over night. It builds slowly by taking care of yourself, developing support and intimacy, setting realistic goals and learning positive self-talk. The objective is to accept yourself and acknowledge your value as a human being.
