APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID Apply for scholarships on www.applytexas.org.www.applytexas.org Complete the FAFSA after January 1 (www.fafsa.gov).www.fafsa.gov TTU scholarship deadline is February 1. Research and apply for external scholarships.

THE FAFSA Determines eligibility for federal student aid. May also be used to determine state and institutional aid. Requires income information for most recent tax year (2015 for the 2016-17 FAFSA). Calculates financial need based on certain factors, including (but not limited to) income, household size and number in college.

SCHOLARSHIP TIPS 1)Apply for anything and everything! 2)If you are receiving numerous emails from scholarship searches, set up a scholarship-only email account. 3)Research your field of study. Check websites of individuals or companies that are leaders in that field of study. 4)Check websites of major companies for scholarship opportunities. 5)Check with organizations that you or your family may belong to, such as AMBUCS, Lion’s Club, churches and employers. 6)Keep your resume, essays and letters of recommendation updated and in an easy-to-access location.
