EQ: I will: How are bones used to determine the identity of the individual? Learn how bones are used to determine sex, age, height, race, and other traits, and use this knowledge to help discover the identity of the victim.

Open folder 1 Each station will be responsible for identifying a single aspect (Age, Sex, Height, Race and other traits) for the Victim Read through the packet for your station and learn about your task

Scenario: Your job: A hunter is in the woods and comes across what he thinks is the skeletal remains of a human. The pathologist has estimated the remains to have been at that location for 6 months. There are 3 missing persons reported around that time. Your help is needed (as a Forensic Anthropologist) to determine the victims identity. Determine the victims identity based on the skeletal remains. You will be able to determine the sex, race, height, age and other traits from the skeletal remains.

Open the Case File Use what you learned from your packet to identify that aspect of the victim You will share your findings with the class and explain how that you derived that answer We will then combine all the findings and determine who is the victim from the list of missing persons

Presentation Make sure you explain the following:
Fill in your answer in the table on the board Label/point out all the bones on your radiograph if this applies Explain how bones are used to identify that aspect Explain how you determined your answer
