Year & Place Of Discovery The place of discovery was in England, at the university of Manchester, 1912 He discovered that electrons are discrete and that the electrons revolve in stable orbits around the atomic nucleus but can jump from one energy level to another.

Scientific Facts He made a model of an atomic structure which was published and became the basis of the quantum theory He discovered electrons and radioactivity Niels Bohr was a Danish physicist who made fundamental contributions to understanding the structure of atoms and the early development of quantum mechanics. Niels Bohr founded the Institute of Theoretical Physics in 1921. Bohr developed and published his model of an atomic structure known as the Bohr model which is the atom as a small positively charged nucleus surrounded by negatively charged electrons that travel in circular orbits around the nucleus. Niels Bohr made contributions to the field of physics and chemistry with the models he made. (The Bohr model of the atom, The shell model of the atom, The correspondence principle, The liquid drop model of the atomic nucleus, The identification of uranium isotope, and The principle of complementarity.

4 Personal facts about Niels Bohr Birth: Born October 7 th 1885 in Copenhagen, Denmark Niels Bohr received his Master’s degree in physics in 1909 Professor Bohr got married in 1912 to Margrethe Norlund and then they had six sons. Bohr died on the 18 th of November 1962, at the age of 77 because of heart failure.
