2 Human Rights  Universal  Develop and change over time  Are influenced by changing views in society  Try to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect  Cover all aspects of our lives

3 Rights  Ensure we survive, develop and protect us from harm  Mean others must involve us in decision making and include us in matters which affect us  Are different from needs and wants

4 Responsibilities  With the idea of rights for everyone in society comes the notion of responsibilities  So, if we have a right to be treated with respect we have a responsibility to treat others with respect

5 What do we mean by ‘rights’? There are different types of rights  Moral Rights  Legal Rights  Political Rights  Economic Rights  Cultural Rights
