9. Wheel Axle A wheel with a rod through its center lifts or moves loads Wheel and Axle

10. Inclined Plane- a slanted surface It is much easier to move an object up an inclined plane than straight up

11. Screw- an inclined plane that is wrapped around a pole Screws hold things together and can be used to lift materials.

12. Can you think of any simple machines that you see everyday? ► Wheels on backpacks and suitcases ► Ramps into truck beds ► Screws in desk legs How are each of these simple machines? What problems are they solving?
