Operational programme “Transport” 2007-2013
The biggest OP in Bulgaria funded under SCF with budget EUR 2 billion (EUR EU share and National funding) 112 grand contracts are concluded; 22 investment projects are funded under the programme out of which 11 “major”; 13 - completed As a result of programme implementation: 500 km railway lines were rehabilitated (track length); 1 railway station 260 km new motorways and 53 km I class roads were built 21 km new metro lines were built (almost half of metro trips in Sofia are made in the new sections)

Railway infrastructure projects under OPTTI 2014 - 2020
Project: Modernization of the railway line Plovdiv - Burgas, incl. Plovdiv and Burgas rail junctions (Plovdiv - Burgas Phase II) – rehabilitation and modernization, S&T, allowing speeds of 130 km/h, 100 km Indicative budget: EUR 320 million Project: Modernization of the railway line Sofia - Septemvri in the sections Elin Pelin – Ihtiman and Ihtiman - Septemvri – upgrade of the existing line, allowing speeds of 160 km/h, 78 km Indicative budget: EUR 740 million Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) – EUR 406 million Project: Modernization of the railway line Dragoman – Sofia - Elin Pelin, incl. part of Sofia rail junction, with total length of 65 km Indicative budget: EUR 200 million Project: Modernization of the railway line Vidin – Sofia, section Vidin-Metkovetz, with length of 62 km Indicative budget: EUR 375 million .

Road infrastructure projects under OPTTI 2014 - 2020
Lot 3 of Struma Motorway, Lot 3 Construction of motorway section, with length of 62 km grouped in 3 Lots: Lot 3.1 Blagoevgrad-Krupnik; Lot 3.2 Krupnik-Kresna; Lot 3.3 Kresna-Sandanski Indicative budget: EUR 750 million Hemus Motorway Construction of motorway section, with length of 250 km grouped in 3 phases: Stage 1 – from Hemus Motorway (Yablanitsa) to road II-35 (60 km); Stage 2 – from road II-35 to road E85 (85 km); Indicative budget: EUR 445 million Construction of a Tunnel under the Shipka Peak The project is part of Corridor 9, with length of 11 km The project consists construction of five tunnels: a tunnel under the Shipka Peak with length of 3,22 km and four shorter m, 240 m, 90 m and 290 m Indicative budget: EUR 150 million

Construction of metro line 3: Stage I - Botevgradsko shosse depot – Vladimir Vazov blvd. – Central city area (downtown) – Ovcha Kupel residential area Construction of underground section with length of 11 km, 11 metro stations and rolling stock delivery Indicative budget: EUR 434 million Extension of metro line 2: Section MS James Bourchier (MS II-11) – intersection of Cherni Vrah blvd. and Henrih Ibsen str. (MS II-12) Construction of section with length of km and 1 metro station Indicative budget: EUR 21.6 million

Innovations in management and services in the transport
Development of systems for railway traffic management (GSM-R); Development of navigation information systems, upgrading the existing systems and the systems under construction; Development of information systems for automobile traffic management; Supply of multipurpose vessels, improvement of the navigation on the Danube River; Modernization and construction of port reception facilities for ship-generated waste and cargo residues in Bulgarian ports of national importance on river Danube and Black sea; Improvement of quality of aeronautical data and information in the area of civil aviation.
