© Michèle Courant, University of Fribourg iWall an interactive ambient display ( Walking-Pad a locomotion interface) Context: two (research) projects

© Michèle Courant, University of Fribourg 1)Integration of RFIDs for communication of personal information Technologies: Phidgets or home-made platfrom (developed within J. Pasquier’s research group) 2) Adaptive iWall This project should be (preferably) coordinated with the previous one. The goal is to adapt the iWall to the user’s preferences or characteristics Example: towards accessibility or personalization iWall

Speech environment: Nuances (with the collaboration of Jean Hennebert for the speech component) 4) Re-design of iWall Using an existing toolkit (e.g. papier-maché or Event Heap…) Goal: increase flexibility and, robustness

© Michèle Courant, University of Fribourg 5 ) iWall-based ticket office The goal is to allow the user to: - make an interactive search (possibly multimodal) for events. - watch events (e.g. movies, concert, exhibitions) trailers. - Select an event and purchase a ticket. - ticket is delivered electronically on SMS/MMS (as in SFF electronic tickets). 6) Distant pointer The goal is to allow (possibly simplified) interaction with the wall using gestures. Instead of touching the screen, a camera is used to recognize the user gestures (or the movement of a recognizable object) as an input/pointing device. An on-the-shelf algorithm will be used for gesture recognition

The iWall is supposed to be installed in the boarding halls where people are waiting for boarding. 2.Search specific information related to the surrounding environment (shops, services,..) 8) Xchange The goal is here to use personal devices like PDAs or mobile phones to exchange personal information to iWall (e.g. giving a phone number or an email for receiving information…) for facing privacy issues raised by interaction with public walls in public environments.
