“[GSPS] does not address… more complex presentation related issues that imply advanced display application functionality. A future supplement … may cover: – image processing – image segmentation – image registration and fusion – 3D display, surfaces rep., and rendering – cine and time based presentation of multi-frame images, including preferred frame rate – query of Display Device characteristics – advanced graphic annotation including complex objects that may be edited”
3
Specific needs now… Include capabilities to put color images on par with grayscale: –GSPS Annotation, graphics, overlay, shutter, reorientation, displayed area for all images –Color calibration: define the incoming image and define methods for color consistency Other needs? Other wish list items?
4
Issues and questions (1): Strictly a superset of Grayscale SPS? Define Color Standard Display Function (CSDF) be defined, similar to DICOM Part 14? –Should this be a separate supplement? What color spaces to support? (RBG, YBR & variants, other?) Handle different levels of the ICC standard?
5
Issues and questions (2): Other new items that are needed in presentation? Do we handle color images with only grayscale (US tag (0028, 0014) ) ? Are these to be in P-values? Include restrictions on flipping (for 3-D?)
6
Consistency items: Provide grayscale consistency: –On color display devices –Grayscale parts of color images (RGB & YBR) Hardcopy color consistency!?! Define imaging chain for color: –Do we have equivalent of P-values? –Do we handle conversion of color to grayscale (and subsequent P-value)
7
Conformance? Conformance – how to define for all media (or restrict to softcopy?
8
Tasks Define the purpose and requirements of color SPS. Define new attributes that must be defined Define relationship with GSPS Consider color consistency and how to define –Decide if we need Color Standar References to both color and grayscale objects Other items: overlays (?), graphics, icons
