1 Discussion Topic 1 On your pre-assessments, many of you indicated that you may be teaching in another state- after earning Texas certification at UD. A system of national teacher certification would make transferring from state to state easier as a teacher. Are you in support of a national certification system? Or are you against it? Why?

2 Discussion Topic 2 Person A already has a college degree and comes to UD to become a certified teacher. He must take 24 hours (8 courses) for secondary certification, 36 hours (12 courses) for EC-6 certification, and 18 hours (6 courses) for middle school certification. Plus you would need to spend one full semester student teaching. This is added the hours mentioned. Person B went to a school this past summer and started teaching in the fall. He has a mentor teacher and must attend a few Saturday classes for the first year. After that he will be a full-fledged certified teacher. Do you think both teachers are equally qualified?
