Kleophrades Painter Pointed Amphora Satyr playing an aulos wears a deer skin – he is ithyphallic. On either side are maenads. To the right a maenad in the throes of orgasm – her head thrown back, the twist on the thyrsos and the foot breaking out of the border. Her hair is black and curly. Maenad on the left is blond haired (dilute slip) and trips along lightly – a post orgasmic glow?
