3. Paul Revere Information Importance: He was a member of the Sons of Liberty. He made the engraving of the Boston Massacre. He joined with 50 other revolutionaries in the Boston Tea Party. Revere became a regular messenger to help the revolutionary cause. He took that historic ride to Lexington to inform the people that British troops were coming. The next day the Revolutionary War began and because of Revere, the patriots were ready. He published Common Sense, a popular pamphlet that argued for complete American independence from Britain. 7. Benjamin Franklin Information Importance: During the American Revolution, he convinced the French to help the Americans. Franklin told the French that if the Redcoats won the war that the British would be too powerful. The French and British were enemies, so having Great Britain be this powerful would be bad for the French. The French sent supplies to the colonists through Franklin and his spies. 8. Wentworth Cheswell Information Importance: An African American patriot leader and first African American elected to public office. He was a messenger just like Paul Revere. When Paul Revere rode to Lexington and Concord warning the British were coming, Cheswell rode to New Hampshire issuing the same warning.
