Atoms: the Building Blocks of Matter Two Parts: Nucleus and Electron Cloud Proton: Found in the Nucleus; Positive Charge Neutron: Found in the Nucleus; No Charge (Neutral) Electron: Found in the Electron Cloud; Negative Charge

Element: A Substance made of One Type of Atom; Arranged into the Periodic Table of Elements Each Different Element has a Different Number of Protons and Electrons. Ex.: Carbon has 6 protons & electrons; Aluminum has 13 protons and electrons
