4 Invention: Basketball Basketball was first played with 2 peach baskets and a soccer ball. At first, basketball was called “Duck on a Rock.” Basketball was invented (officially) in1949. An estimated 300 million people play the game today. Basketball is less brutal today than it was when it was first played.

5 Inventor: James Naismith James Naismith was born November 6 th,1861, in Canada. Naismith lived with his Grandmother because his parents died. He had 3 siblings. James was an outstanding athlete. He died November 28 th, 1939.
