Examples: and, but, or nor Use FANBOYS to remember the coordinating conjunctions

6 FANBOYS FOR AND NOR BUT OR YET SO

7 ADVERB Modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb
Answers the question of how, when, or where Often ends in ly

8 ADJECTIVES Modifies a noun or pronoun

9 ADVERBS OFTEN END IN LY – She swims rapidly under pressure.
MORE EXAMPLES: OFTEN, NEVER, SOMETIMES, SELDOM, ALWAYS, VERY

10 PREPOSITION A word used to relate to a noun or pronoun to some other word in the sentence. Common examples: On, over, under, to , up The horse ran under the barn. The subject and verb are never in the prepositional phrase.

11 INTERJECTIONS WORD THAT EXPRESSES A STRONG FEELING. Usually stands by itself. Whew! Oh! Well, Hooray!
